Look at those horses; what are they draggin'?
Heavily guarded -- what is that wagon?
War Wagon! What does it hold?
War Wagon! Loaded with gold!

Most men are fightin' for a wagon full of gold;
Scratchin' and fightin' for a wagon full of gold.
My piece of land, my cattle brand, a place to rest my head;
A feelin' of a woman's love are all you really need for livin'.

Three years in prison made me dream a lot of dreams;
Sometimes the dream is not as easy as it seems;
But wrong or right, I have to fight, 'cuz when the truth is told,
All men are fightin' for a wagon full of gold!

"The War Wagon" is your quintessential popcorn caper western action comedy, in which John Wayne, Kirk Douglas & assorted riff-raff team up to take on an armor-plated and Gatling gun equipped stagecoach.

The War Wagon (1967): Directed by Burt Kennedy
Writing credits: Clair Huffaker - screenplay, based novel "Badman"

us.imdb.com/title/tt0062472/
Video: 720x304 widescreen, black-bars cropped
Audio: 61kbs theatrical mono, VBR encoded
Ripper: C00LDuDe
Size: 2 CDs
Misc: subtitles; music
Source: Widescreen 2.35:1 Color R1 DVD released on August 18, 1998

Don't let the large screen-width or small audio bitrate throw you off; I've prybarred loose every available version on the 'net; and COOLDuDe's video transfer is the best (there's little pixelation, no blockiness, and the color palette is richer; e.g., "chestnut" horses are reddish-brown, not just brown), and the original mono sounds better than any "fattened up" multi-channel produced by encoding software constrained to certain outputs. "The Ballad of the War Wagon", played over the opening credits, is appropriately bold and brassy.

"The War Wagon"'s DVD print is a "dirty transfer" from film-stock (i.e., not cleaned of dirt and scratches or corrected for side-to-side "wandering" of the film); until a fully-restored version with enhanced audio is released, this is as good as it gets in a less than full-rip.
